TLM respond rapidly to customer needs during Covid-19 with Call & Collect

The Customer

Broken Spur is a convenience and fuel service station on the West Sussex/Surrey border – on the way to Goodwood! Owned by Refuel & Go, a top 50 Indie, whose fuel partner is BP with a Spar branded store. Broken Spur has a good shop offer, including local produce.

The Challenge

During Covid-19 social distancing rules made it difficult to manage more than two customers in the store at a time. However, the store was well stocked with essential groceries even when the supermarket shelves were empty. Broken Spur wanted a way to enable their customers who couldn’t come to the store, due to self-isolation, to be able to access their groceries and prevent long queues forming on the forecourt.

The Solution

evoPOS is built on an open platform which means we can write and release enhancements in a fraction of the time compared to more traditional systems. This meant we were able to enhance our functionality with a Call and Collect feature and offer evoPOS customers this update in a matter of days.

Call and collect allows the store to take a grocery order over the phone, or email, and enter the order on the EPOS system. Customer details and a reference are added, and a slip printed to attach to the order. When the customer comes to collect their goods either the barcoded slip can be scanned or the onscreen refence can be searched to recall the transaction, pay and go.

The same function can also be used to facilitate home deliveries, as well as collection.

Broken Spur have found this simple but effective update has supported them in offering customers both Call and Collect and home delivery as valuable additional services.
