Based in Blackburn, Euro Garages was founded in 2001 by brothers Mohsin and Zuber Issa with the acquisition of a single petrol filling station in Bury, Greater Manchester. Since then, Euro Garages has established itself as one of the UK’s fastest growing and most recognisable forecourt operators, with an expanding portfolio of 360 freehold-owned sites located throughout mainland UK.
Alongside an innovative approach to roadside retail property, Euro Garages has forged high-profile relationships with nationally and globally recognised retail and convenience brands, now operating in excess of 67 Starbucks drive-to and drive-thru restaurants, 146 Subway sub-stations and 100 Greggs bakeries.
As a Top 50 Indie Euro Garages prides itself on keeping ahead of retail and industry trends. Becoming increasingly aware of a growing consumer tendency towards combining a top-up shop with stopping for fuel or visiting their sites for coffee or snacks, they decided to look at how they could diversify their convenience and grocery offering. Seeing an opportunity to work with the convenience arm of a major supermarket chain, they chose to trial their convenience stores in six of Euro Garages’ sites.
The project to trial the six new stores involved coordination between several suppliers to the two companies, including technology. They needed to be able to integrate their systems fully to ensure sales, stock and promotions data was transferred seamlessly with minimal downtime or disruption. Crucial elements such as new product codes and price files needed to be coded into the EPOS and back office systems instore to ensure the new offering was introduced and managed smoothly.
Euro Garages had been using the Oracle convenience and fuel EPOS and back office systems in their estate for many years, supported by TLM Technologies. They needed a supplier they could trust to implement the integration necessary to facilitate the new convenience stores in the six sites. The TLM team were engaged to oversee and support the EPOS and back office related integration of the new stores, responsible for the smooth transition of this aspect of the trial.
Guy Bickerstaffe, Feasibility & Business Assurance Manager at Euro Garages said, ‘TLM have supported our estate both directly and as a contractor to Oracle for over ten years. In that time, we found them to always be a responsive technology partner who will very often step in with solutions where others have failed. They have been instrumental in recent projects providing vital system integration services and solutions with innovation and flexibility.’
Bob Laidlaw, Business Development Director at TLM said, ‘we were delighted that Euro Garages trusted us with the systems integration of such an important trial for them. At TLM we have an experienced team with invaluable in-depth knowledge of the EPOS and back office systems that Euro Garages use. Euro Garages are going from strength to strength, partnering with many big-name brands, and we are proud to support such a successful player in the fuel industry.’
